It’s A Heart Issue

“But God told Samuel, Looks aren’t everything.  Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature.  I’ve already eliminated him.  God judges persons differently than humans do.  Men and women look at the face; God looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7 (MSG)

Charisma – it is a wonderful attribute to have, yet it is not one of the prerequisites for promotion with God.

Samuel was instructed by God to anoint His chosen one to become King of Israel.  One after one Jesse brought forth his sons to see which one would be anointed King.  With his first look, Samuel thought Jesse’s oldest son was surely the one.  He was tall in stature and good to look upon.

That is not important to God.  He does not look at the outward appearance of man, but rather our inward character.  Even Jesse, David’s father, did not believe David should even be considered, as he never brought him in from watching the sheep.

Thank goodness God does!  He saw David’s heart.  Acts 13:22, God said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will”.

God desires for us to be promoted in every area of our life.  And, promotion begins with our heart.  It is a heart issue.
